In Creative Corner, poetry

I stand on this stage and hold this mic
To offer a bouquet of gratuity through these pages
To throw petals of contentment through these rhymes
Save the roses for my parents
Because I have needed my mom since I was merely a fetus
And I’ve fend off my dad long before I walked in diapers
Hand the calla lilies to my siblings
For being my first best friends
And for every little thing they taught me
Hand some more to my best of friends
For being there for me on every high and low
A round of applause to my teachers and lecturers
And to that lady who gave a penny to that beggar down the street
To that neighbour in the bus who smiled at me
Every hand that has pulled me up
Every shoulder I’ve cried on
Before the spotlight dims
Know I can’t jot it all down
Before the curtains close
Know that in my heart, I’ve given you all
Flowers of appreciation
Because I am, only because you are
