In Creative Corner, poetry

The bullet openings on our wall clock refuse to
heal, they worsen and keep us undone by ruin.

here, bravery is synonymous to an
unflinching life at the hands of grief.

every day is a blood covenant with hades,
as chaos courses like liquid adrenaline in our veins,

pushes fire down our throats and fuels it
with news headlines draped with bones.

the day before yesterday, a child rummaged the earth
for breath after being ambushed by unknown gunmen.

yesterday, a cathedral, too, was waylaid
and a congregation of believers were offered as

a peace offering to heaven; as if to say,
God, these are your people.

today, the street is on fire, gunfire as brimstones.
gunfire at our streets is synonymous to disco music

on high tune, setting countless bodies ablaze — it triggers
its way into a boy’s body, and makes graffiti on his chest.
